So, today, I had the vision of finishing up all of the inside trim work. Ha! The best laid plans and all ...! But, I did accomplish a little part of it, so, here it is!
A month ago, right when the new, tend-to-immediately project hit my world, the French doors to the master bath arrived! I immediately stuck the doors in the doorway to see if I did the baseboards correctly. And, I did! Booyah ...
| So proud! |
You know, painting the dividers is a LOT EASIER when you realize the dividers are actually meant to be REMOVED. Yeah ... I didn't know that when I painted the Dining Room doors. Oh, well.
While there are no pictures-in-progress of the paint job -- because I slapped that paint on as fast as I could to make sure it was ready to go when the new project ended -- we all know what it looks like to see wood-then-paint. And, that these were going white, well, we've seen a LOT of that!
Here's what it finally looks like today, though!
| I didn't get this trim as perfect as I did on the bedroom side. That's okay, though, because the toilet hides it. 😀 |
I did not glue the main piece of the doors in and, rather, I used this:
That way, I can remove the doors when/if I want to frost the windows. That would make sense being they lead into a bathroom and all. But, I need to think about it because I'm picturing possible curtains. Hmmm ...
This particular adhesive gets RAVE reviews from the many dollhousers I see on blogs and other sites, so I went with it. If it leaves a mark somewhere, which it's reported by everyone who has reported on it that it will not, I'm not too worried about it. I'll just touch it up with paint. My bigger interest is that it keeps whatever I put up in place. For instance, DID YOU SEE MY NEW MIRROR?!
Just a little adhesive stuck that right in place where it has stayed for days! I think it's good to go!
I know there a LOT of differences in terms of furnishings in these pictures. That's because I was recently tipped off about an estate sale that had dollhouse furnishings, and I hit the MOTHER LOAD. I'm so stoked seeing the entire house just come to life!
Part of what will extend the time to get the rest of the trim finished is the fact that every room is now furnished. So, you know. It takes time to remove furnishings to get a job done. And, I get distracted pondering decorations rather than taking care of the business end of things. 😊 The third level of trim is my next target for completion, though! Stay tuned ...
